Jan 11 City police confirmed today an investigation was ongoing over a claim pertaining to hidden cameras in the changing rooms of a clothing store at a shopping mall in Jalan Imbi here.
Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said a police report was initially lodged on Monday.
He said the police only found out about the video after it went trending around 9am earlier.”A report was lodged by the outlet’s security manager and the video posting was uploaded by other social media users not of the complainant.
We have investigated the complainant’s outlet and found that the premises is not the one claimed in the video but is suspected to have taken place at another location,” he said.An 11-second video of the recordings alleging the cameras’ existence went video on Twitter but has since been taken down.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code in relation to insulting the modesty of a woman.
Earlier it was reported that popular fashion retail brand, H&M, had lodged a police report after netizens expressed concern over the trending video.
