Last week, Microsoft expanded its product lineup with new Surface devices and accessories. Among these services, the Redmond behemoth debuted Presenter+, a Microsoft Teams tool. To attract more users, the company is now planning to add some new accessibility features to its video calling app.

According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the company is working on a new feature. That will improve support for sign language communication.

The Microsoft Teams’ ‘Sign Language View and always-on captions in meetings’ feature will be available to the general public in December, initially on platforms such as Mac and desktop.

MICROSOFT TEAMS GETTING NEW FEATURES

To incorporate sign language into Teams meetings, the feature will allow users to prioritise the videos of two other users. These videos remain visible even while content is shared, and captions can be set to remain on throughout all meetings. Due to the limitations of these devices’ display sizes, this feature may appear on mobiles soon.

Aside from that, Microsoft Teams is expected to receive additional features and developments. The company intends to add emoji reactions to Teams chat, with over 800 emojis available.

Meanwhile, Axios reported earlier this month that Microsoft had laid off around 1,000 employees across several divisions. Microsoft has now confirmed the layoffs.
